All operators, with few exceptions, accept the most widespread credit/debit cards Visa and Master. Other types of cards are also accepted including some cards which are used locally in some countries. For every transaction with a card there is a fee in favor of the servicing system. Different poker rooms have different policy towards these fees – some cover all such expenses, others share the fees with the players, and still others do not cover any fees. Sometimes when you want to make a deposit in some operator, you may have to pay an additional fee (price for the transfer) from 0% to 5%. This has to be specifically described in the Terms and Conditions of the poker operator.
If you have made a deposit with a credit/debit card, the winnings may be transferred back to your card without a fee. The latter may not be applicable for some types of cards. You have to check in advance whether you can have your winnings transferred back to your account, otherwise you will need an alternative payment method. When a money transfer back to your card is not possible, operators usually offer to send your money via bank transfer.
When you have used credit/debit card to make a deposit in a poker operator, a verification of your card is required in most cases. The operator requires a copy of your card which is sent via fax, e-mail or a regular letter. For some security measures and only if it is specified by the operator, some of the information may not be shown on the photocopy of the card. There are poker rooms which, according to their payment processors, may require that the owner of the card prints, fills and signs an authorization form. All these requirements are part of the operator’s verification procedure which also includes a verification of other documents. For more information read our “Verification Procedures” article.
